Project Overview

Located in Abu Dhabi, the Steinway Flagship Store was envisioned as more than a retail environment — it was conceived as a destination where music, design, and brand identity come together in a highly curated spatial experience. Spanning 3,700 square feet, the project translates the prestige of Steinway & Sons into an interior language defined by sweeping architectural forms, warm neutral tones, textured finishes, and carefully choreographed lighting.

The design creates a journey through distinct yet connected zones, including display areas, consultation spaces, and performance settings, each tailored to elevate the experience of discovering the instrument. From the expressive central installation to the intimate material palette and elegant spatial flow, every element was designed to reinforce a sense of exclusivity, craftsmanship, and timeless sophistication.

The Challenge

The main challenge was to create a flagship environment that could embody the legacy and refinement of Steinway & Sons while offering a contemporary and memorable customer experience. The space needed to function as both a showroom and a branded destination, balancing product display, circulation, private consultation, and performance within one cohesive concept.

Another important challenge was ensuring that the architecture itself enhanced the presence of the pianos rather than competing with them. The design had to be expressive and iconic, yet restrained enough to let the instruments remain the true focal point of the space.

Our Approach

Our approach centered on translating the emotional and artistic qualities of music into architectural form. We developed a fluid design language with soft curves, layered textures, and sculptural interventions that evoke rhythm, movement, and harmony. Warm timber tones, ambient lighting, metallic accents, and bespoke display features were carefully composed to create a refined atmosphere that feels both luxurious and welcoming.

A key feature of the project was the creation of a strong central spatial statement that anchors the showroom and gives it a distinctive identity. Around this, the space unfolds through curated zones that support display, engagement, and performance in a seamless and elegant way. Every detail, from material selection to lighting integration, was considered to ensure the environment reflected the same precision, artistry, and craftsmanship associated with the Steinway brand.

The Outcome

The Steinway Flagship Store emerged as a sophisticated retail environment that elevates the traditional piano showroom into a fully immersive brand experience. The completed space offers a compelling blend of elegance, identity, and functionality, allowing clients to engage with the instruments in an atmosphere that feels curated, aspirational, and deeply memorable.
