Project Overview

Anantara Spa was envisioned as a luxurious retreat that offers guests an immersive wellness experience rooted in heritage and relaxation. The concept blends traditional hammam references with a contemporary hospitality approach, creating an environment that feels both authentic and elevated.

The design language is shaped by a strong sense of ritual and arrival. From the ornate entrance arch and rich detailing to the marble-clad hammam and softly lit treatment spaces, each element was composed to enhance the guest journey. Decorative motifs, warm lantern lighting, draped lounge areas, and carefully selected finishes all contribute to a setting that feels tranquil, intimate, and memorable.

The Challenge

The key challenge was to create a spa environment that balanced cultural character with modern luxury. The space needed to capture the essence of a traditional Turkish hammam while meeting the functional, operational, and aesthetic expectations of a premium hospitality brand.

Another important challenge was designing a sequence of spaces that felt immersive and restorative from start to finish. The project required careful attention to atmosphere, privacy, materiality, and flow so that every zone, from reception and waiting areas to treatment rooms and the hammam, contributed to a cohesive and calming experience.

Our Approach

Our approach focused on crafting a wellness environment that feels ceremonial, elegant, and deeply rooted in sensory experience. Spatial planning was used to guide guests through a layered sequence of arrival, transition, treatment, and relaxation spaces, ensuring comfort, privacy, and clarity throughout the journey.

Materiality played a central role in expressing the spa’s identity. Marble surfaces, decorative tile details, carved motifs, warm metals, and rich fabrics were selected to reflect the heritage of Turkish bathing culture while maintaining a polished contemporary standard. These materials help create a strong visual identity while also supporting the calm, tactile quality expected in a luxury spa environment.

Feature lanterns, concealed lighting, and gentle ambient illumination were used to highlight architectural details and create moments of intimacy and warmth. This was especially important in the hammam and waiting areas, where mood and ambience are central to the guest experience.

The treatment and relaxation zones were designed to feel quiet, comfortable, and restorative. Soft finishes, draped enclosures, traditional references, and balanced proportions were introduced to create spaces that encourage pause, stillness, and relaxation while remaining aligned with the overall hospitality concept.

The Outcome

Anantara Spa emerged as a sophisticated wellness destination that combines tradition, luxury, and experiential design. The spa offers guests a serene and culturally inspired environment where architecture, materials, and atmosphere come together to support rest, ritual, and wellbeing.

The project reflects CK’s ability to create hospitality and wellness spaces that are immersive, elegant, and tailored to the identity of both the client and the guest experience.
